Parkmerced labs appoints sustainability leader to accelerate innovations in urban living around the globe

San Francisco – September 22, 2016 – Today Parkmerced Labs, a subsidiary of Parkmerced – the largest urban multifamily development in North America, named Stephen Linaweaver partner. The move positions the company to bolster its focus on leading groundbreaking technology innovations in mobility, energy and 21st-century residential living, such as the recent launch of a first-of-its-kind partnership with Uber.

Seen as the Bell Labs of real estate, Parkmerced Labs develops and deploys next-generation technology solutions that help property owners and communities improve urban living. With Parkmerced as its proving ground, Parkmerced Labs is developing sustainable solutions that will be replicated and scaled globally. The goal: to transform the way people live and connect in an urban environment.

“I’ve always been driven by the ethos of sustainability and how we as a society can accommodate more people with less impact on our resources,” said Linaweaver. “As more people move to the cities, we will need to find ways to minimize our carbon footprint. Parkmerced Labs will make that possible, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

With a rich background in sustainable development and innovation, Stephen has focused his entire career on helping companies improve sustainability across the organization. As program director at ClimateWorks Foundation, a principal at Blu Skye, and a strategy consultant and principal with GreenOrder, Stephen helped companies from eBay to Hewlett Packard leverage sustainability as a tool for long-term business and economic growth. He also led operations and organizational design for energy, industrial and technology clients in North America, Asia and Europe for McKinsey & Company. A graduate of the London School of Economics and the University of Virginia, Stephen credits his experience as a river guide for building his passion to help businesses find ways to create a more sustainable future.

“We very much look forward to Stephen’s leadership as we revolutionize the urban neighborhood, and change the way people live and connect in their community,” said Rob Rosania, founder and lead visionary of Maximus Real Estate Partners, the developer of Parkmerced. “With Stephen’s lifelong commitment to sustainability and his experience working hand-in-hand with innovative businesses, we are well on our way.”

Under the leadership of Maximus, Stephen and Parkmerced Labs will continue to create unique opportunities for corporations, startups and property owners to collaborate on continuous, scalable innovation in real-world environments.
